Living by her favorite quote, “Be who you needed when you were younger,” Chryssie Whitehead joins the Guest Faculty at Radix with a wealth of industry experience spanning 25 years. Originally from the Southern Strutt dance studio in South Carolina, Chryssie is honored to return to her roots as a convention dancer, eager to pay it forward to the next generation.
Chryssie’s journey in the performing arts began immediately after high school when she danced for the iconic Radio City Rockettes in New York. Since then, she has built an illustrious career in Film, Television, and Broadway as an actress, dancer, and singer. After studying musical theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York, Chryssie closed the first National Tour of FOSSE and made her Broadway debut in the revival of A CHORUS LINE, playing Kristine and can be found on all music apps on the show’s soundtrack. You can see her landing this treasured role in the hit documentary, EVERY LITTLE STEP. Her additional Broadway accomplishments include roles in CHICAGO (Kitty/Velma US performed) and COMPANY (Kathy at Lincoln Center with Neal Patrick Harris) and has played numerous lead roles regionally: Cassie in A CHORUS LINE, Lola in DAMN YANKEES and Bombalurina in CATS. Her dance career spans from working in Los Angeles as a dancer touring with Paul McCartney, performing on the MTV Movie Awards (Choreographer: Marguerite Derricks) and getting her SAG card as the dance double for Julia Stiles in SAVE THE LAST DANCE (Choreographer: Fatima Robinson. Favorite film and television as an actor includes: WEST SIDE STORY Film (Director: Steven Spielberg), GREYS ANATOMY, THE MENTALIST and the romantic comedy with Raven Simone, REVENGE OF THE BRIDESMAIDS.
Chryssie remains a passionate educator teaching across the globe, while working in the business. Established in 2017, Whitehead became the co-founder of the performing arts educational company alongside best friend and colleague of 20 years, Alexis Carra, www.BroadwayArtsCommunity.com . The dynamic duo expanded their teaching skills adding the sister non -profit, www.BroaderthanBroadway.com, empowering basic life skills through the performing arts to underserved communities, Est. 2024. Chryssie is also an entrepreneur and writer having co-founded IN MY OWN LITTLE CORNER Productions where her autobiographical play with music, singing and dancing is produced. This is her give back show to the community at large, sharing her and mom’s life journey with mental health on a mission to normalize conversations around mental wellness. The 23-24 Tour is complete and the live capture of the play occurs March 16, 2025 in New York City with hopes to sell to streaming services. More at www.Eachlifehasitsplace.
