ROOKIES
Our expanded Rookie program features a two-day workshop and a dedicated Rookie division in our competition. Designed for dancers ages 5 and up, it's the perfect introduction to the convention experience. The Rookie program is ideal for young dancers who are excited to be part of RADIX but may not be quite ready for the full Mini Room experience. The workshop includes half-day classes on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Rookie experience includes a custom T-Shirt and special themed performance on the RADIX stage!
One free Rookie Observer band will be given to the studio for the appropriate parent/guardian for each registered Rookie dancer. This wristband will only allow entrance to the Rookie classroom. It does not grant access to the Mini, Junior, Teen, Senior or Teacher rooms – NO exceptions. Additional Rookie Observer bands can be purchased on site, if needed.
Rookies can participate in the competition if they are registered for both days of the Rookie workshop. One-day Rookie participants cannot compete.
Rookies are not eligible to receive any scholarships.
ONE-DAY WORKSHOP
RADIX offers a One-Day Workshop option for dancers who are not participating in the competition. Dancers registered for the competition must be enrolled in the full weekend workshop and are not eligible for the One-Day option.
One-Day Workshop participants may choose to attend either Saturday or Sunday. If possible, we recommend Saturday, as Sunday classes often build on material introduced the day before.
Please note: One-Day Workshop participants are NOT eligible for scholarships.
INDEPENDENT DANCERS
RADIX believes a dancer is best served by attending consistent classes with a reputable dance studio. We do acknowledge that in certain circumstances a dancer is Independent. RADIX defines Independent dancers as dancers not associated with a physical dance studio and taking consistent classes as part of a structured program. We understand this rule is subjective, therefore any questions will be resolved at the RADIX Director's discretion.
Independent dancers are welcome to participate in the RADIX Workshop.
Independent dancers are not eligible to compete in RADIX's Competition.
Independent dancers are unable to receive Protégé scholarships but are eligible for all other scholarships.
SCHOLARSHIP REDEMPTION
If a dancer has switched studios or is now registered as "Independent," they must submit written permission from their former studio to RADIX Dance Convention in order to use any scholarships through their new studio.
When registering online, once you have "added" a dancer to your workshop registration, click the scholarship checkbox and select the scholarship that your dancer received from the dropdown. This dancer's registration fees will be waived.
Regional RADIX workshop scholarships are awarded to Protégé Winners & Choice Artists. Regional workshop scholarships are not awarded to Protégé Runners-Up or Cutting Edge Scholarship Winners.
OBSERVERS
- Parents of registered dancers are allowed into the workshop classes if they have purchased an Observer wristband.
- All Observers must be attending with paid students only and may not be teachers, studio owners or dancers.
- Observers are not permitted in the Ballet and Jazz/Multi-Genre audition classes or Protégé auditions.
- Observers do not have access to the Teacher/Studio Owner room or closed rehearsals at any time.
- One free Rookie Observer band will be given to the studio for the appropriate parent/guardian for each registered Rookie dancer. This wristband will only allow entrance to the Rookie classroom. It does not grant access to the Mini, Junior, Teen, Senior or Teacher rooms - NO exceptions. Additional Rookie Observer bands can be purchased on site, if needed.
- Observer wristbands are not required for the Welcome Show, Competition, or Closing Show.
- The RADIX Director reserves the right to limit observers within each ballroom subject to attendance and space limitations. If limit is reached prior to convention, Observer wristbands will not be sold onsite.
